-
Tai Chi: You will learn traditional Tai Chi forms. The classes will be broken up into four sections, covered over four weeks. Every class in week 1 will cover section 1, so you have three classes that week which will cover the same material. We recommend you join at least one class a week if you are interested in learning Tai Chi. You may come to more classes each week if you want more practice or struggle learning new movements.
-
Pranayama – This could also be called breathing techniques, although we think that simplifies it a little bit. Pranayama translates to ‘energy expansion’. We use our breath to focus our intention, control our mind, and align our energy. Differing from other forms of yoga like vinyasa or ashtanga which work primarily on the physical body, pranayama works on the energy body which is upstream from the physical body. Meaning that if you align your energy body your physical body will also align. The physical body is built on the energy body. Align your energy body and your physical body will heal. It is advised to not eat for a minimum of 4 hours before practicing Pranayama.
-
Qi Gong: A health exercise for maintaining and improving health, it originated from Traditional Chinese Medicine. Similar to Tai Chi, Qi Gong involves slow movements, postures and stances designed to strengthen the internal body and a persons Qi. Qi is the mandarin word for vital life energy, in yoga Qi is called Prana, in English Qi is called Energy.
-
Hatha Yoga: Hatha yoga is not simply an exercise form, it is a live process. Just the way you hold your body can change the fundamental chemistry of who you are. This class will begin with a sun salutation followed by 8-20 asanas (postures) which will be hold for 10 – 45 seconds each. Traditionally Hatha Yoga was practiced in the morning to wake up the body and bring a sense of aliveness to one’s life. Each class will be 45 minutes long with an option to stay for an additional 15 minutes, in this time you can continue your practice, meditate, or enjoy some complementary tea.
-
Vinyasa Yoga: A practice of constant dynamic flow through a variety of asanas (postures). This class is more intense than a Hatha Yoga class but less intense than an ashtanga class. Vinyasa yoga is a great opportunity to improve one’s mobility, flexibility, and strength, while falling into a state of flow through observing the breath.
-
Ashtanga Yoga: A fixed set of asanas (postures) following a rigid breathing pattern. The intermediate’s class will follow the entire ashtanga primary series while the beginners ashtanga will follow the structure loosely, giving people an opportunity to practice the style of Ashtanga at a less intense pace.
Emma - Pilates Instructor
We hope this helps you find the right classes for you!

With over a decade of teaching experience, Emma's classes are based on classical Pilates techniques, with influences from strength training, yoga, and her dance background.
Though a professional ballet dancer for 20 years, Emma is equally at home teaching Pilates anywhere from beginners to elite athletes, injury rehabilitation and general maintenance classes.
Pilates is a holistic exercise system designed to elongate, strengthen and restore the body to balance. Exercises involve the whole body and are performed on a mat, sometimes utilising small equipment.
So much more than just building 'a strong core', Pilates addresses underlying structural imbalances in the body, which can create ongoing pain and difficulty with movement. Lengthened and strengthened muscles improve posture and overall fitness, and restrain dysfunctional movement patterns. Renowned as a safe exercise form, modifications are given throughout the class to ensure everyone is both safe and challenged to their own individual level.
